We Want to Give You $100! (Your $100, that is)
You are no doubt aware that the RDLA Chiefs have taken a $100 Volunteer fee for each family involved in lacrosse play this year. Unlike other years, we have decided to cash the cheques and refund them later rather than hold them and return them or tear them up later on. We require that the money be deposited by the start of the playing season (April 1 for banking purposes).
All we require to issue you a refund cheque for your volunteer money is evidence of 10 hours of work per family to support lacrosse in Red Deer. Many volunteers laugh at the idea of 10 hours, having put in several times that amount before the season even starts. For some people, however, especially those whose players are new to lacrosse, it may be daunting to consider getting involved to the tune of 10 whole hours.
Examples of Volunteer Activities:
Serving on the Executive
Participating in the Tradition Lives Tournament (min. 2 hours per family)
Washing Jerseys
Minor Official: 30-second timer, scorekeeper, game timer
Photo parent
Social event arranger
Treasurer
Manager
Coaching (Certified coaches, i.e. those who have taken a coaching course)
Helping with the Casino on May 13/14
Note: Refereeing a game does not count (as you are being paid) but we credit you 4 hours for attending a referee clinic
Lacrosse will not run without the active participation of the families of all participants. Please support your association!
