The U17 Male Team Alberta squad delivered an unforgettable performance at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland, bringing home the bronze medal in thrilling fashion.
Red Deer Chiefs athletes Luc Catudal and Kian Siemens proudly represented Red Deer Lacrosse on the national stage, playing key roles in Alberta’s hard-fought overtime victory over Team Nova Scotia to secure the bronze.
Team Alberta opened the tournament strong with a commanding 9-1 win over Team Quebec. Despite tough losses to powerhouse squads from Team Ontario and Team BC, Alberta battled back with a crucial round-robin win against Team Nova Scotia, finishing third in their pool.
In the quarterfinals, Alberta stunned Team Saskatchewan, who had finished first in their pool, to advance to the semis. In an intense matchup, Alberta took Team BC to overtime before falling just short in a heartbreaking defeat.
Undeterred, the team showed resilience and grit in the bronze medal match, earning redemption with a dramatic overtime victory over Team Nova Scotia.
This medal marks a tremendous accomplishment for Team Alberta and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Luc and Kian. Their perseverance, teamwork and determination exemplify the spirit of both Team Alberta and the Red Deer Chiefs.
