What you need to know - RDLA 2021 Spring Season

Mar. 17, 2021

Hello Members,

On April 30, 2021 the GOA announced stronger public health measures within the City of Red Deer to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in our community.  Accordingly, we will be moving our training sessions outside so we can continue with our Skills & Drills programming.  Our next 2 weeks are currently scheduled at the Collicutt Centre Soccer Fields on the East side of the building.  The Collicutt Centre will be closed to the public so please plan accordingly before heading to practice (fill water bottles, use the washroom).

Please note the following:
  1. The most recent GOA COVID-19 guideline update, provided below, requires participants to be masked at all times, except during high intensity physical activity. Coaches and trainers must remain masked at all times.  Accordingly, we ask that we maintain our current masking protocols while attending our training sessions.  Participants/Chaperones/Parents/Coaches must wear a mask while on the field of play (including sidelines), once participants start to engage in high intensity physical activity their mask may be removed.  In accordance with Provincial Mask Mandates anyone in the 6U & 8U groups, where they would need assistance placing, using or removing a face mask, masks must remain in place until on the field of play and will be removed at the discretion of their chaperone/parent.
  2. Chaperone requirements will remain the same.  One 6U parent per players will be allowed to attend for chaperoning purposes, please maintain physical distancing at all times.
  3. Spectator requirements will remain the same 8U to 16U parents are asked to drop their player off and leave the field of play (sidelines) for the duration of the practice.  Please follow all GOA public health measures if you choose to remain in the parking lot or on the surrounding grounds.
  4. Traffic flow, when arriving at your training session we ask that you approach the field of play on the north side of the fields and exit to the parking lots via the south side of the fields.  At no point should you enter the field of play, please walk around.
  5. As the weather in Alberta can be hard to predict we recommend the minimum of the following equipment, helmet, gloves, athletic cup/jill and running shoes.  This will allow athletes to dress for the weather and be as comfortable as possible.
Thank you to our families for your understanding and willingness to adjust to government requirements as they updated.  We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday and Thursday.  Please reply to this email directly with any questions or concerns.  We have also included the most recent GOA Youth Sport and Recreation Activities public health measures below.

Yours in Lacrosse,
RDLA Board

Hello Members,

We are excited to get back on the floor!  We ask for your patience as we navigate the changes that will occur during this season.  Here are some things you need to know prior to your first practice and through out the season:

  • Please review the City of Red Deer User Guidelines here before the first training session.
  • Please do not come if you (player or chaperone) are sick, have been in close contact with a COVID19+ case or someone who has travelled outside Canada.
  • City of Red Deer bylaw requires face coverings be worn inside most indoor public places, please ensure your player has a mask as well as any adult chaperones. Players are to keep their mask on until they put their helmet on to go on the floor.  Please sanitize your hands upon entering the facility.
  • All players and coaches will be required to complete COVID Screening utilizing the RAMP Team App prior to their floor time, if a player has not completed this form they will not be allowed to participate.
  • We ask that all players 6U-16U come fully dressed to every training session, arriving no more than 10 minutes prior to the start of their floor time.
  • Please mark equipment properly to ensure no shared equipment or water bottles between players.
  • Please exit the facility with in 10 minutes of your floor time ending and sanitize your hands when leaving the facility.

At this time Government of Alberta Public Health Measures do not allow spectators.  6U & 8U players may have one chaperone per family attend the training sessions as we recognize they will need bathroom breaks throughout and will require help. Parents/spectators for all other divisions are not permitted at this time during training sessions.

Our current Training Sessions will follow the guidelines set out in the Government of Alberta Public Health Measures. For more information on the Alberta Lacrosse Associations Return to Activity Framework please click here.

**Please note training times, training groups and/or training spaces are subject to change to allow for changes in registration numbers, compliance with COVID regulations/guidelines or direction from ALA or the Central Alberta Lacrosse League.
